Description of Iridium Wire

Iridium is a rare, precious metal that is hard, brittle, and has low ductility, which makes it a difficult material to work with. In appearance, it is a lustrous, silvery metal. As might be expected from its position in the periodic table, iridium is stable to air and water and is not attacked by any acids, including "aqua regia." Iridium wire is a thin wire-like iridium metal. The resistivity of the iridium wire is 6.03×10^-2Ωmm^2/m, the tensile strength is 1493MPa, and the elongation is 10%-20%. The iridium wire can be used as a high-temperature oxidation-resistant thermocouple material and filament material.

Iridium Wire Applications
